Sold-Out Evening at the Boston Athenaeum

On Wednesday evening, the Boston Athenaeum played host to a sold-out audience for an inspiring author talk and panel discussion for our recently published third book, New England Coastal, Homes That Tell A Story. The panel featured  partner/founder Mark Hutker, FAIA, partners Jim Cappuccino, AIA, Thomas McNeill, AIA, and principal Ryan Alcaidinho, for a compelling conversation on three of the stories behind featured in the book.

The conversation explored the deeply personal nature of home design. Each shared a recent project—from Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Cape Cod—demonstrating Hutker Architects’ Narrative Design process. At the heart of each story was a thoughtful understanding of daily life patterns, the unique characteristics of place, and the aspirations of the client—elements that form the foundation of what we call an Heirloom Home. The discussion revealed how this human-centered approach results in homes that are not only visually striking, but also grounded in well-being and a deep sense of belonging.

Following the talk, guests gathered for a reception and book signing with Mark Hutker. Attendees had the opportunity to meet the team and delve deeper into the philosophies that guide our work in custom residential design. The evening was a celebration of both our design legacy and the evolving conversation around how architecture can give form to personal stories, heritage, and sanctuary.

We are grateful to have been invited to take part in this remarkable series at one of Boston’s most historic institutions and architectural landmarks.
