• Designer II / Senior Designer

  Designer II / Senior Designer

  Hutker Architects is seeking skilled licensed Architects or non-registered Designers. Candidates should have strong residential design abilities coupled with technical expertise and will be responsible for significant project activities demonstrating ability with all phases of design and technical development of a project. Must have 5-10 years of strong residential design experience.

  The Designer II / Senior Designer will be responsible for project development from inception to final completion, serving as client liaison, leading project support teams as required, and working under the expertise of the Principal. Candidate must have a strong understanding of feasibility studies, zoning and code review, design development, contract preparation, construction documents, bidding and negotiation, and construction administration.

  We are looking for a full-time Office Administrator for our Falmouth office.  The HA Office Administrator performs a variety of support roles that enhance the operational systems of the firm and offers an additional layer of support to the Partners, Principals, and leadership teams. Job assignments require a working familiarity with all departments within the organization.

  Office Admin duties include scheduling and managing calendars, client communications, travel arrangements, arranging conference calls, overseeing all reception and administrative responsibilities, and ensuring a friendly and welcoming office atmosphere.

  Candidates should have:

  • 2+ years of administrative support experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

• Chief Financial Officer

  Chief Financial Officer

  Hutker Architects, Inc., with offices in Martha’s Vineyard, Cape Cod, Plymouth, and Boston, is looking to hire an experienced and dynamic Chief Financial Officer. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in finance and accounting coupled with a “big picture” perspective that helps us chart our future while thinking strategically and creatively about new business opportunities. The CFO will be responsible for planning, implementing, directing, and evaluating all of the firm’s fiscal functions and performance. They will work closely with our finance teams and company ownership to make decisions that support our bottom line and strengthen our just cause: to evolve the art of dwelling.

   

  Responsibilities and Duties
  The CFO will be responsible for directing the full breadth of our firm’s revenue-generating operations. They will serve as the primary decision-maker for routine business matters, overseeing client contracts and managing financial statistics/results. They will contribute to the achievement of organizational goals and business development initiatives by providing strategic guidance, analysis, and industry knowledge.

   

  Finance

  • Oversee and direct treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, long-range forecasting, and insurance activities for the organization.
  • Present monthly and year-to-date financials with accompanying analysis of results
  • Direct and coordinate the generation of the annual firm budget.
  • Summarize departmental budget requests and monthly management reporting for President.
  • Ensure compliance of firm accounting procedures with accounting principles and best practices
  • Manage balance sheets and P&L statements; monitor activity, reconcile monthly and annually.
  • Monitor quarterly tax payments and estimates; prepare documentation and reports for annual tax filing while properly categorizing all expenditures and receivables to maximize tax benefits.
  • Oversee and streamline bi-monthly client billing and collections processes and maintain a clean aging report; collect on open invoices to decrease the average day’s invoices are outstanding.
  • Monitor actual expenditure reports, analyzing variances to maintain profitability goals.
  • Serve as direct client liaison regarding fees and/or expenses and negotiate collections and terms of payment, as appropriate on behalf of the firm.
  • Serve as the primary contact with the firm’s accountants and other financial advisors.

   

  General Operation

  • Develop and implement financial policies/procedures to ensure the smooth and profitable functioning of the firm.
  • Provide key business and financial updates to ownership, as well as facilitate action plans and policy decisions.
  • Direct and analyze studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the firm’s policies and operations.

   

  Risk Management

  • Negotiate professional liability and general insurance packages, analyzing potential risks to prevent claims.

   

  The Chief Financial Officer must possess the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in accounting from an accredited four-year college or university and ten years of accounting, administration, and human resources experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a professional services firm, ideally with exposure to architecture, interior design, and/or construction.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet and accounting software, human resource systems, and database software including but not limited to Deltek and Salesforce.
  • The ability to thrive in and support an entrepreneurial environment.
  • The agility to work effectively with a variety of creative and administrative colleagues as well as consultants, vendors, and clients.
  • High personal and professional standards, intelligence and initiative, attention to detail, creative problem-solving abilities, and communication skills.

• Billing & Payroll Coordinator

  Billing & Payroll Coordinator

  Hutker Architects, Inc., with offices in Martha’s Vineyard, Cape Cod, Plymouth, and Boston, is looking to hire a Billing and Payroll Coordinator with three to five years of experience. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and capable of managing deadlines. This position will be responsible for the client invoice billing cycle, accounts receivable, and staff payroll. They will work closely with our finance team to support the Architecture, Interior Design, and Human Resources Department.

   

  Responsibilities and Duties
  The Billing & Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for managing the accounts receivable, working with project managers to invoice projects, and maintaining the payroll schedule. This position will work with the Accountant and Controller to manage the day-to-day finances of the company.

   

  Responsibilities:

  • Understand all aspects of the billing cycle for the Architecture and Interior Design departments
  • Prepare billing reports for Project Managers
  • Batch billing – Entry of billing data, verify and receive approvals from PM’s and Principals
  • Update/calculate construction cost in accounting systems
  • Electronically distribute invoices and communicate with clients
  • Accounts Receivable – Process payments and collections
  • Work with Human Resources to ensure benefit deductions are up to date in payroll
  • Payroll preparation, processing, reporting, and employee correspondence
  • Other business duties as assigned due to company growth

   

  Experience Required:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business and 3-5 years of payroll administration and billing experience
  • Issuing client invoices and distributing electronically
  • Familiarity with batch invoicing
  • Good working knowledge of payroll practices
  • Corresponding with clients and employees
  • Collecting and verifying employee data and computing wages
  • Processing bi-weekly payroll
  • Data entry into formatted Excel templates and accounting system

• Environmental & Sustainability - Engineering Intern

  Environmental & Sustainability - Engineering Intern

  Hutker Architects is looking for an engineering-focused intern/coop to help further develop environmental and sustainable practices for projects related to residential architecture.  This position will be located at Hutker Architects’ Plymouth Office.

   

  This position is paid,  40 hours a week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with an hour off for lunch.  Candidate must be proficient in programs such as AutoCAD, sketch up, REVIT, and Adobe Suite.  The environmental and sustainability intern supports the project manager with assigned tasks and projects related to residential architecture.  Interested candidates can email their resume and statement of interest to careers@hutkerarchitects.com.
