Partner Jim Cappuccino, AIA, will deliver a lecture at the Roger Williams University’s Cummings School of Architecture on April 15, 2026. Titled “A Career Shaped by Place,” the talk will reflect on the personal experiences, influential mentors, and residential projects that have shaped Jim’s 30-year career in architecture.

A graduate of Roger Williams’ Bachelor of Architecture program, Jim will discuss how experiences ranging from his Massachusetts roots to work in Jackson Hole, a return to New England, and travel throughout the U.S. and abroad have informed his perspective on architecture and place. Through personal stories and residential design work, he will explore how curiosity, risk-taking, and close attention to context can shape a meaningful architectural practice.

These ideas are central to Jim’s work at Hutker Architects, where his projects reinterpret regional vernacular traditions through a contemporary lens to create homes that feel both modern and timeless.

Jim’s lecture is part of a broader moment of engagement between Hutker and the Cummings School of Architecture. Partner Thomas McNeill, AIA, and Senior Designer John DiSalvo, AIA, are currently co-teaching an advanced design studio at the university focused on the fundamentals of residential architecture. Through teaching, lectures, and mentorship, Hutker Architects remains actively committed to supporting and shaping the next generation of designers.

The lecture, open to all, will take place Wednesday, April 15 at 6:00 PM in the Pray Lecture Theatre at the Cummings School of Architecture, with a live stream available for those unable to attend in person.
