Director of Interior Design

Overview

The Director of Interior Design leads Hutker Architects’ Interior Design department, shaping the vision, standards, and execution of all interior design work across the firm. This role blends creative leadership, team development, project oversight, and cross disciplinary collaboration.

The Director ensures that interiors are beautifully integrated into our architectural work, that our client experience reflects our values, the department is successful on both a design and a financial front, and the ID team has the clarity, tools, and support needed to produce exceptional, cohesive designs. This position will work as part of and in alignment with HA senior leadership.

The Director of Interior Design at Hutker Architects has several roles at the organization which can be broken into four main areas:

  1. Firm
  2. Design
  3. People
  4. Business Development, Prospecting, and Closing Business

1. Firm Role

Role Description: The Director of ID participates in the development and execution of firmwide strategy by contributing operational insight, guiding project-level alignment with long-term goals, and participating in strategic initiatives as delegated by the CEO, Executive Team and/or Partners. The Director of ID helps connect day-to-day leadership with broader firm strategic initiatives.

Strategic Contribution: The Director of ID may be asked to lead, advise, provide input on and/or participate in the execution of firm strategic initiatives. This position does not hold ownership or voting rights in strategic governance. Involvement will vary depending on the specific initiative and as guided by the needs of the organization.

2. Design Role

Role Description: The Director of ID is charged with design direction and client relationship management for HA ID projects. They are the face of projects, from design conception to client
satisfaction.

Role Description: The Director of ID will foster a collaborative, inclusive culture that promotes creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement

4. Business Development, Prospecting, and Closing Business Role

Role Description: The Director of ID, in conjunction with the CEO, Partners and Principals, is responsible for bringing in design business that meets Hutker’s design criteria and achieving annual revenue goals. They are the front line for business development activities, project specific interviews, contract development and closing business.

New Business Leadership: The Director of ID, in conjunction with the CEO, Partners and Principals, is responsible for business development, creating new business opportunities, and expanding existing business activities. This includes:
