Hutker Celebrates Groundbreaking of the Upper Cape YMCA

Hutker Architects was proud to sponsor the groundbreaking of the Upper Cape YMCA this winter, a major milestone in a five-year effort to expand inclusive community resources across the region.

For Founding Partner, Mark Hutker, this moment reflects years of dedication. Three years ago, Mark and Carla Hutker opened their home to host the Y’s first garden party, helping share the vision of an Upper Cape Y with their community. Since then, Mark has generously given his time, talent, and resources at every stage of the project.

Mark has served on both the Facilities and Fundraising Committees, contributing his architectural expertise and connecting the YMCA with donors, vendors, and subject matter experts. Reflecting on his committee work, he shares: “I’ve come to appreciate the full breadth of what the YMCA provides. Many of us think of the pool or the gym, but its reach extends far deeper — to childcare, healthcare partnerships, nutrition support, cooking classes, yoga, cycling, weight training, and the ‘Y Without Walls’ programs that welcome every member of our community without exception.”

Since moving to Cape Cod, Mark has become deeply engaged in the local community civic involvement with Island Elderly Housing, Falmouth Academy, the Schools of Architecture at the University of Cincinnati and Northeastern University, the Lyceum Fellowship, and as a Corporator for Martha’s Vineyard Bank.

We are honored to stand alongside so many dedicated partners helping to strengthen the social and wellness infrastructure of the Upper Cape.
