Half Tide Rock

The design for this house began with the homeowner’s desire to be immersed in the site’s west facing water views and to maximize his experience of the incredible sunsets afforded by this exposure.  Curved glass walls and polished concrete floors lead into the circulation core of the home.  With full height glazing on either end, this two-story volume stretches across the depth of the house and connects public spaces on the first floor with private living spaces above.  A frosted glass floor suspended within the core mimics the frosted glass windows of the façade, creating a warm, lantern-like glow in the evening. Minimalism reigns in trim details and interior furnishings, allowing the materials to speak for themselves and for one’s focus to settle on the incredible views afforded throughout.
