When a family with young children purchased this Cape cottage in the historic district of Edgartown, their task was to renovate and expand it for their contemporary tastes and lifestyle, while maintaining a connection to the neighborhood’s predominant style. The new program was arranged along a primary axis, a sleek stone corridor bisecting the original cottage and directing circulation through the re-imagined living spaces toward a modern pool house in the rear. Boundaries (between old and new, interior and exterior) are blurred throughout.
